Automations - Manage missed Automation executions
In Version 18.3, we introduced a new feature that will enable users to manage missed Automation executions while it was on pause.
When you have an Automation set to send multiple times based on a set number of attempts, you might wonder what would happen to the missed attempts when you pause the Automation now and then decide to resume it in the future?
With this feature you can decide to compensate for the missed attempts or just skip them.
You will find this pop-up warning when you go to the Automation List and click to Resume a Paused Automation. You will see the following options to proceed:
Run and Resume,
If user selects Run and Resume, it will resume the Automation with all the remaining attempts based on the frequency that was set. This includes making up for the missed attempts.
Skip and Resume,
If user selects Skip and Resume, it will skip all missed attempts and only continue the remaining attempts.
How to Find Your Automations:
- Left Menu - Settings
- Email/Text Communications > Automations

Pop-up Warning
Notes:
- This feature only applies to Automations that have a Multiple-send nature and has a set number of attempts.
- Here's a sample scenario:
- Create a multiple-send Automation on Monday to send 3 times every other day starting on the same day.
- If you pause the automation on Tuesday and then resume on Thursday, that means you missed the second attempt which is supposed to send on Wednesday.
- So you will get this pop-up warning.
- If you choose Skip and Resume, the system will skip the second attempt and move on to the third attempt which will be sent on Friday.
- If you choose Run and Resume, the system will make up for the missed second attempt. So the second attempt will run on the next day which is Friday. And then you can expect the third attempt to continue from there based on the set frequency, so it will be sent on Sunday.
- It is important to note that Automations as well as reminder emails are executed in the middle of the night. So if you decide to resume an automation that is expected to run today and you do it during the daytime, it is already missed.
